2022-2023 Budget Vote Election Results

Dear OCS Community,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to vote on the 2022-2023 school budget.  We are pleased to inform you that the budget passed.  The results are as follows: 

Proposition 1 - Budget:

    Additionally, we are very happy to report that Maggie Mahoney, Tara Carter-Lettsome and Kyle Kolwaite have been elected to another three-year term to serve as board members for our community.  The results are as follows:

2022-23 Budget Vote

The Budget Vote will be held on May 17th from 7am-9pm at the Jr Sr High School Cafeteria and Rockwell Elementary Gymnasium.  

Board of Education Member Openings

Currently there are 3 (three) 3 year term seats open. If you are intrested in running for one of these openings, please visit the District Office to pick up an informational packet. 

Information for Filing Nominating Petitions

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that petitions for nominating candidates for office must be filed in the District Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m. on April 18, 2022.  Candidates must:

  • Be able to read and write.
  • Be a qualified voter of the District. A qualified voter of the District is a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age or older and not adjudged to be an incompetent.
  • Be and have been a resident of the District for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately before the election.
  • Have not been removed from any school district office within the preceding year.
  • Not reside with an other member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
  • Not be a current employee of the school board.
  • Not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.

Please note: interested candidates can come and pick up a packet at the District Office.

Voting Information – Q&A

Who is Eligible to Vote – You are eligible to vote on May 17, 2022 if you are a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older, and have been a District resident for at least 30 days prior to the vote. Questions? Call the District Clerk at 315-552-5001.

When and Where is the Budget Vote? – The Annual School District Board of Education Election and Budget Vote will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Jr/Sr High School Cafeteria and Rockwell Elementary Gymnasium. 

Can I Vote by Absentee Ballot? – Residents who will not be in the area on May 17, 2022 may apply for an absentee ballot at the District Office.
If the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the application must be submitted at least seven days prior to the vote. If the absentee ballot is to be picked up by the voter in person, applications will be accepted until May 16, 2022. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 17, 2022.

Voter Objections/Challenges

Any qualified voter may challenge the qualifications of an individual casting an absentee ballot.

The basis for challenges includes:

  • Voter is not 18 years old as of May 17, 2022;
  • Voter is not a United States citizen;
  • Voter has not been a District resident for 30 days prior to May 17, 2022;
  • Voter is not disqualified from voting (felony conviction, for example); and
  • In Districts using a system of personal registration only: the voter is not registered with either the County Board of Elections or the District.

A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots were issued must be available to both the public and the Election Inspectors.

Before opening any envelopes, the Election Inspectors must review any written objections received by the District Clerk. (These are received prior to the election, based on inspection of the list to whom ballots were issued.)

Election Inspectors should also review any objections made on May 17, 2022.

Challenges must be able to be received on May 17, 2022 – These can be made by contacting the District Clerk, Jason Cirulli, at 315-552-5001. The challenge must include the following:
