IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT EMERGENCY CLOSINGS
AND PARENTSQUARE NOTIFICATIONS
The safety of our students and staff is one of our highest priorities at the Onondaga Central School District. The decision to cancel/delay school or cancel after-school/evening activities will be based on several factors, including the weather forecast and current road conditions.
In the event that we do cancel/delay school or cancel after-school/evening activities, we will use ParentSquare to alert parents, guardians and staff. This system sends an automated voice message, text message and an email to families.
We will also post information on our website and we will notify local media outlets.
ParentSquare allows for users to set their preferred notification settings. Users can update when and how they want to receive notifications from their school and the district office. Emergency notifications, such as canceling or delaying school, will be sent as an alert, which overrides your notification settings. For more information on ParentSquare notifications or to sign up, visit the ParentSquare website.
When Onondaga Central Schools are closed, all scheduled activities, events, meetings, and programs will also be canceled, unless otherwise stated for extenuating circumstances. In addition, the school closing information applies to all students who are receiving transportation on our district buses, including students attending private and parochial schools, BOCES and all others.
Parents, please have a plan in place for the supervision of your children on school delays and emergency closing days, or in the event of an early dismissal. If school is canceled the Before School program will NOT operate.
If afterschool activities are canceled the After-School program operated by Health Kids Program will remain open and ask parents to pick up their children as soon as arrangements can be made.
Breakfast will be served when school is delayed one hour, however, it will not be served when school is delayed two hours.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to a building principal or me with questions.
