Onondaga Jr./Sr. High School Named to 2024-25 College Board AP School Honor Roll
Onondaga Central Schools is proud to announce that Onondaga Jr./Sr. High School has been named to the 2024-25 AP School Honor Roll by the College Board, earning Bronze recognition for its commitment to expanding access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses and supporting student success.The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have demonstrated outstanding efforts to welcome more students into AP programs and prepare them for college success. In addition, Onondaga earned the AP Access Award, which honors schools that encourage participation among low-income and underrepresented minority students.
Onondaga’s recognition is based on three key metrics reflecting college readiness:
- College Culture: 57% of students in the Class of 2025 took at least one AP exam during high school.
- College Credit: 38% of students scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam.
- College Optimization: 4% of students took five or more AP exams during their high school career.
Together, these metrics highlight the district’s continued focus on building a strong college-going culture while increasing access to rigorous coursework for all students.
Research from the College Board shows that students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time, with advanced coursework helping to build both academic skills and confidence.
