Character Education
We believe that educating for character is important at Rockwell School to promote a safe, nurturing learning environment and to encourage our students to become well-adjusted, productive citizens. Character Education is not a separate curriculum but stressed throughout the day in every room at Rockwell School.
Great Beginnings
Kimberly Gdula, our social worker, works on a pro-social skills orientation program for all kindergarten students in the fall. We also hold a workshop on parenting skills for all parents. The Positivity Project
The Positivity Project teaches children by acknowledging that the 24 character strengths are already a part of who they are as people. It helps them to realize that each and every one of them has these strengths. Realizing that you have the power to affect others in a positive way is meaningful and rewarding.
The Positivity Project centers around the theory that there are 24 main charater traits exhibited by all people in varying capacities. To find out what your top character strength is, visit www.viacharacter.org/www. Here you will take a free, 10 minutes survey that will prioritize all your character strengths. There is a survey for adults and students.
We would love for you to take an active role in your child's character strength education. Your child will be learning about the Positivity Project every day and it would be a great conversation to have at the dinner table to help your child understand their own character strengths!
