Summer Suggested Reading ListDear Students and Parent/Guardians,
The Jr/Sr High School has provided suggested readings for the summer. Summer reading is an essential element of good instruction. It has proven that students who read four or more books over the summer are far more likely to score higher on rigorous reading comprehension tests than their peers who read one or no books. The “summer slide” of reading comprehension skills is cumulative, meaning if your child does not read throughout the summer, his or her literacy skills could fall behind by the time they reach school in the fall. Summer reading is meant to be enjoyable and we do not want students to have to struggle; we want reading to be fun and relaxing. The enclosed summer reading lists are meant to be guides for students and parents. The important thing is that students read, read, read!
